Before you vote, peruse this summary of the candidate:
Ithaca HOURS, issued on locally-produced cattail paper, are 'billed' as "Ithaca's $10.00 bill"--the average dollar value of an hour of work in the area. Once individuals and businesses pay their entry fee, whatever they're offering in return for HOURS are published in a system-wide newsletter, and they are issued two HOURS to spend in the community. The money supply increases with the number of participants, but so does the range of places to spend it. The local credit union accepts HOURS for mortgage and loan payments; some property managers accept them as rent; and dozens of other businesses from copy shops to produce vendors take them as well.
More information on Ithaca HOURS is available on the HOURS home page and in our community currency directory.
